Laurence Miller Gallery  Artist

Bystanders, 2002
20 x 30" Fujiflex print, edition 5

Mark Mann expresses the ironic, irrational and sometimes pathetic elements of the human condition through the use of appropriated imagery from 1960’s and 70’s postcards. These digitally combined images reveal the action or inaction of people that reflect upon their inner struggles and fears, while others stress the role their environment plays in describing the state of things, lending insight to a given situation. His work has been purchased and collected by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Norton Museum of Art, Palm Beach, Florida and the Progressive Corporate Collection. Images from this series were featured in the spring 2002 issue of Orion Magazine. Mark Mann lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
