|
The Laurence Miller Gallery is pleased to present Jerry Uelsmann / Maggie Taylor: Other Realities, from June 20 - August 16, 2002. The exhibition will feature a selection of prints by these two artists that explore the subconscious and the imagination. Husband and wife, each uses completely different technology to achieve lyrical and humorous works that extend our notions of reality. Uelsmann works in the darkroom, Taylor on the computer. Maggie Taylor employs digital technology to create her personal world of images. She scans images of all types into the computer, then uses Photoshop to alter, enhance and reconstruct images that she prints in color on an Iris inkjet printer. Born in Cleveland in 1961, she graduated from Yale, then did post-graduate work at the University of Florida, where she studied with Jerry Uelsmann. Her work is in the collections of The Art Museum, Princeton University; The Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and many other international collections.
