Julie Mack, Stallion Suite, 2005

Julie Mack

Combining great wit and sensuous color, Julie Mack has created an impressive body of work, sharing the awkward moments that her family experiences before her large-format camera with the long exposures.  She gives us an affectionate and humorous study of her typical American family that has begun to climb the socio-economic ladder. Julie’s photographs remind us that despite increasing wealth and possessions, family dynamics remain the same.

Laurence Miller Gallery presented On the Move in 2007, Julie Mack’s first one person exhibition.  Her work was successfully introduced at Art Basel in 2006, at Paris Photo in 2006, and at ARCO in 2007. Her photographs have been published in LIFE, AMERICAN PHOTO, TEEN PEOPLE, and BE magazines. She received the Tierney Grant in 2005.

Julie Mack was born in 1982 and raised in the suburbs of Detroit. In 2005 she graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York. She currently works as a Production Manager in advertising.
