Description

August 17, 2020
The Doublemix series is a collaborative hybrid of photography and ceramics, created by two French artists: photographer Denis Darzacq and mixed media artist Anna Iris Lüneman.
Doublemix N°57 was produced during the residency program "In Situ", a cultural outreach project in Seine-Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris. Seine-Saint-Denis is home to a culturally diverse population and a mosaic of social housing, and the residency program seeks to facilitate access to art in education in this area that has historically been marked by poverty. Doublemix N°57 represents bodies that are precariously balanced and won over by the dynamics of joyful art and abstraction. The artists are interested in "art as an engine of emancipation", or, as that "which allows the chrysalis to become a butterfly." Doublemix N°57 appears as a material metaphor of this transformation.
