Everyone loves to describe the stories that are told by photographs. But equally fascinating can be the journey of an individual print such as this picture taken in Hong Kong in 1959 by Fan Ho, a photographer originally from Shanghai. He later moved to Northern California, where he discovered a gallery in Palo Alto that quickly began to represent his photographs, selling this print to Laurence Miller Gallery. While promoting Fan Ho in Europe, Miller quickly sold it to an artist in Madrid, who now resides in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. To raise funds to purchase an electric bike, the artist recently offered it back to Laurence Miller, who then sold it to a collector from New York.
Welcome home. A smooth ride.
