Greek photojournalist Alexandros Avramidis photographed these two Ukrainian sisters saying goodbye to their mother as they were evacuated with members of the Jewish community from Odesa in southern Ukraine. We commend the immense personal risks that photojournalists take in order to communicate the excruciating reality within Ukraine and other conflict zones around the world.
