This towering (yet refreshing) image of healthful looking green juice may appear to be a double exposure, but it’s actually a straight photograph of a building's reflection captured in a New York City display window. The picture demonstrates the way that the city is threaded through with visions of product-driven lifestyles. Anastasia Samoylova’s series IMAGE CITIES examines this trend, specifically looking at the way photographic imagery like this has surpassed architecture as the defining feature of city-spaces. Samoylova’s affinity for Walker Evans is perhaps nowhere more apparent than in their shared fascination with signage, and what those signs tell us about the places and cities they adorn.
