Eadweard Muybridge’s pioneering motion studies were first published in 1887 as an 11 volume portfolio. He traveled widely in that decade, delivering lectures where he dazzled his audiences with a device of his own invention which projected his photographs as a moving image. Muybridge's work—groundbreaking and enormously influential in his time—continues to fascinate viewers to this day.
