This dynamic photograph exemplifies Denis Darzacq's collaborative approach to picture making. Working on a basketball court painted by French artist Stépahne Ashpool (Artistic Director for the 2024 Paris Olympics), Darzacq suggested to his model that he pose with his clothing reversed. This sense of inversion is reinforced by the way the subject twists and turns away from the camera. Darzacq creates his photographs like a stage director who knows the value of improvisation, trusting his performer to bring his deeply humanistic vision to life, on Darzacq's chosen stage.
