Barbara Jaffe has devoted herself to exploring the poetic implications of the negative image. By focusing on this fundamental element of film photography, she has developed a highly personal means of expression. In her Forest of Ghosts series, which comprises the 2nd half of her book, Dark Sun, she offers an emotional response to the loss of animal habitats around the world, imploring us to see animals and the natural world with fresh and newly sympathetic eyes.
