Five hundred thousand visitors are expected to attend the Venice Biennale this year. Sadly, I will not be among them. But Luca Campigotto, native son of Venice, has captured this romantic city with a tenderness and quiet respect that reminds us why Venice is so loved around the world, and deserving of the nickname "La Serenissima."
Whether you are visiting Venice this summer or not, Luca's monograph VENICE: The City By Night, published in 2006 by Thames and Hudson, is a must read. Try your local bookstore or Amazon. And at 2.3 pounds, a lot lighter than your carry on.
